With Jermain Defoe suffering a calf injury, Rangers have also reportedly made an attempt to sign Hibs striker Florian Kamberi on loan with a view to a permanent summer transfer, but they face competition from clubs in Italy and Poland.
The player is reportedly keen on making the switch to Ibrox.
There could be more outgoings from Ibrox, with Middlesbrough the latest club to be linked to a move for winger Jordan Jones.
