Poreless, line-free, glowing and perfectly smooth, celebrities often boast a complexion most of us mere mortals can only dream about – unless you find the right treatment.
The Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial is a revolutionary new treatment that’s loved by A-listers, including Victoria Beckham, Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman, and promises “dramatic instant results” with zero downtime.
The facial recently arrived in Scotland at The Aesthetics Club, Bearsden, Glasgow, so I popped along to see if I could gain a Hollywood-worthy glow.
How does it work?
According to Fiona Grant, founder of The Aesthetics Club, the Intraceuticals Oxygen Facial uses hyperbaric oxygen to deliver tailored professional-strength serums deep into the skin. Using pressurised oxygen, applied to the surface of the skin through a small handheld device, enables the products to be pushed further into the epidermis, which leads to a smoother and plumper appearance. Who could resist?
What are the steps?
When I arrived at the clinic (beautifully decorated and oh-so chic), I was shown to the treatment room by my therapist Kerri, who then explained the process.
With ambient music playing and dimmed lights, the first step is to deep cleanse the skin to remove any make-up and impurities, which is then followed by a soothing exfoliation. This preparation ensures your skin is the perfect blank canvas to absorb all the lovely skin-boosting ingredients, vitamins and antioxidants packed into the serum, which is applied during the next step.
Once I was totally relaxed, Kerri began the “oxygen” step of the facial, which sees a pressurised stream of air methodically applied in sections across the face.
Although the blast of air is a little chilly, the technique is entirely painless and very relaxing. After the oxygen has worked its magic, the treatment finishes with hydrating eye and lip masks, which are left to soak into the skin for around 10 minutes. The full treatment lasts around one hour, and left me blissfully chilled out.
And the results?
Wow! Straight away my skin looked smoother and plumper, but I really noticed the difference after a few days. Fine lines looked improved, blemishes disappeared, and I had a radiant glow that made my skin look at least five years younger. With no downtime or complicated aftercare, and such great results, I won’t hesitate to book again.
