TRNSMT 2020 dates confirmed as music festival to return to Glasgow Green

TRNSMT will return to Glasgow Green next summer, it has been confirmed.

The fourth edition of the music festival will take place on the July 10 – 12 2020.

The dates for next year’s event were projected onto the city’s McLennan Arch and Trongate Clock Tower, as tens of thousands of fans exited after George Ezra’s closing performance.

Festival Director Geoff Ellis said: “After three hugely successful years, TRNSMT is now an established part of Glasgow’s annual cultural calendar and we’re proud to have projected our 2020 dates into the heart of the city.

“Planning is already well underway, and we’ll continue to work closely with Glasgow City Council, councillors and local residents to make next year’s event another incredible year for TRNSMT’s audience – that are a credit to Scotland –  and the amazing city of Glasgow.

“This year’s sold-out festival was the best yet with so many highlights; from Stormzy’s police escort entrance to TRNSMT on Friday evening, Gerry Cinnamon’s huge performance on the Main Stage, the sun-drenched set from the outstanding Sigrid, Catfish and the Bottlemen’s closing Saturday night, plus George Ezra and Lewis Capaldi’s epic Main Stage performances, it was an outstanding weekend of music. We can’t wait to return to Glasgow Green next summer for another phenomenal weekend of music.”

Glasgow City Council leader Susan Aitken said: “Glasgow is renowned the world over as a home for live music, and TRNSMT has quickly become an integral part of the city’s offering.

“Around 150,000 fans have enjoyed world-class artists at Glasgow Green this weekend, while the city’s businesses have benefitted from additional income worth millions of pounds.

“Festivals like TRNSMT bring vibrancy and enjoyment to visitors and locals alike. The council will work with festival organisers, the authorities and the local community over the next year to ensure we build on the success of 2019 and make 2020 another year to remember.”
