Bienvenue, wilkommen and karibu to the newly arrived Cop26 diplomats who have arrived in Scotland and are reading this column for the first time.
I know you’re concerned with the amount of rubbish the world produces so that’s why I want to flag up Netflix’s You which surely demands urgent action by the UN.
This is the third series of You which follows charming book shop owner Joe, played by Penn Badgley, who is, in fact, a murderous creep.
If you think you can’t make a good series about some light-hearted stalking and murder then you’d be entirely correct.
You attempts to be brainless about brains being bashed in which I’m not sure is actually possible. You, though, embraces its preposterous tone and invites you to side with the awful, amoral Joe as he negotiates his suburban life with a new baby and partner.
Middle-class neighbourhoods are ripe for satire and our new family have to counter the figurative knives in the back with a more literal form of backstabbing.
It’s a treat to side with a villain once in a while, although You can’t help but slip into soap opera when it comes to Joe struggling to be a good dad.
Where the first series was set in a book shop this one revolves around a bakery. The literary allusions have been mostly dropped; You is now unashamed junk food.
Don’t tell Greta you love it.
