Karen Duncan Jewellery
Choose from elegant and unique designs by Karen Duncan Jewellery, made on the island of Burray.
Karen Duncan creates distinctive pieces inspired by Orkney’s landscape and heritage. Karen Duncan was born in Orkney and grew up on Burray, one of the southern isles of Orkney.
While still at school she started making jewellery. Her hobby grew into a passion and then a full-time profession spanning over 30 years.
From her workshop on the island of Burray, Karen creates distinctive and beautifully finished pieces, which incorporate geometric shapes and intricate detail, inspired by the shapes and textures of the Orkney landscape and its rich heritage.
With stunning views overlooking Water Sound and one of the Churchill Barrier’s which link her home island of Burray to the Orkney mainland, Karen’s workshop is where she is happiest.
The view from the window provides daily inspiration for new designs, allowing Karen to experiment with different textures and colours, perfecting each piece before it is crafted, finished and packaged up ready for sale. Her versatility, understanding of materials and attention to detail result in jewellery made with passion, care and precision, delivered from her home to your home.
Enjoy a little piece of Orkney when you purchase jewellery by Karen Duncan.
The Orkney Distillery
Looking for a unique gift for your loved ones this Christmas? Look no further!
The Orkney Distillery’s quest is to earn Kirkjuvagr mythical status with gin drinkers around the world. The distillery handcrafts its gin in small batches using traditional copper stills in a process defined by passion, commitment and attention to detail.
In name, Kirkjuvagr reflects the rich history of the islands and the boldness of those ancient seafarers. In character though, it’s utterly contemporary and has been crafted with the modern, discerning gin enthusiast in mind.
The distillery’s gin range is characterised by the use of locally grown botanicals, including a variety of Norse Angellica brought to the islands by seafarers centuries ago.
This merging of traditional methods with contemporary flavours is what allows the distillery to create spirits that are unmistakably Orcadian.
