MY Heart Will Row On….
They may be rivals out on the water, but students from the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University (RGU) have come together to help promote the upcoming Aberdeen Boat Race.
They’ve created a parody video of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’, even recreating some of the classic scenes from the movie it’s featured in, Titanic.
It follows last year’s “Rowing on the Dee” – a take on Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” – which was widely shared online before the race.
The event, which is Scotland’s longest running boat race, sees the two universities do battle on the River Dee on the stretch between Bridge of Dee and Aberdeen Boat Club.
Rowers from the University of Aberdeen will be attempting to reclaim the title after a five-year winning streak from RGU.
In 2016, RGU won by just a quarter of a length in the closest race yet – with both crews smashing the course record.
The event will also see races between Second and Alumni Crews, as well as a Media Challenge which will see our sister title the Evening Express and Original 106fm take on the reigning champions from the BBC.
The 22nd annual Aberdeen Boat Race, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, takes place on Saturday, March 4.
