TRAVELLERS have been hit by a morning of rail chaos as services between Glasgow Central and Paisley were delayed or cancelled.
Commuters heading to Glasgow from Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Ayrshire saw their trains terminate at Paisley Gilmour Street due to damage to overhead electrical wires between Cardonald and Central.
Long queues formed for replacement bus services in Paisley town centre, with disruption to the rail network expected until lunchtime.
Trains between Paisley Canal and Glasgow Central have also been cancelled.
ScotRail said: “We have overhead line damage affecting our trains this morning into Glasgow Central. Our staff are on site carrying out an assessment as to what repairs will be needed.
“We have 16 buses arranged that will be operating on a shuttle basis between Glasgow Central and Paisley and some will be directed direct from Glasgow Central towards Prestwick Airport and Ayr. These buses should all be in place for 0930 approximately, some are in place currently.”
Valid tickets and smart cards can be used on certain First Glasgow and McGills bus services.
