KEZIA DUGDALE has Tweeted a video message to her constituents as she prepares to star in ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The former Scottish Labour leader, who is a regional MSP for Lothian, is donating her £2,500 salary for the time she is away to Edinburgh-based homelessness charity Rock Trust.
“I appreciate that to my constituents this is quite a controversial move and I know there’ll be people upset by it and that will question my priorities,” she says, adding: “I think it’s an amazing opportunity to talk to young people who watch this program about politics and Labour values.”
Ms Dugdale reveals she initially turned the opportunity down when it involved five weeks out of the country, but accepted when it was reduced to just over three.
The video was posted on a new Twitter account, Team Kez, set up for her stint in the jungle.
