STREETS in Glasgow city centre remain closed today as filming begins on a blockbuster film.
Work began yesterday in setting up scenes for the Fast and The Furious spin-off, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters Hobbs and Shaw, in streets surrounding George Square.
The filming of the major @UniversalPics production begins today on and around the City Chambers in Glasgow. Yesterday, props including a stunt dummy and several motorbikes were spotted as equipment was unloaded and set-up.
This morning, a black Porsche super car was on set and stunt drivers assembled, watched on by passers-by as Glaswegians headed to work.

Pedestrian access remains available to most streets in the area, but stewards are in place to cordon off zones and prevent access when filming is underway.
More than 200 crew members will be working on the production, which is the latest to use the city to shoot scenes.

In 2011, Glasgow doubled for Philadelphia in Brad Pitt zombie epic World War Z.
Judging by the bus currently parked in George Square, which displays Paddington as its intended destination, Scotland’s largest city could be doubling for London this time around.
If you’re hoping to spot some stars, Friday looks to be the day to head along to the area.
While The Rock won’t be in town, and Jason Statham’s schedule is unknown, it’s understood Idris Elba, who plays the film’s villain, will be heading to Glasgow at the end of the week.
