VIDEO: The final journey of Emma Caldwell
The video above is a recreation of the last journey of Emma Caldwell.
She was last seen in Glasgow city centre on April 4, 2005, and five weeks later was found murdered in Roberton Woods in rural South Lanarkshire.
Iain Packer, who was jailed for 36 years last week for Emma’s murder and a catalogue of sexual violence against 22 other women, knew every twist and turn of the 30-mile drive to a desolate forestry track.
He had taken Emma there many times before, and took detectives there when they interviewed him for the sixth time.
He was never spoken to again.
The fight for justice eventually took nearly 20 years and relief at Packer’s conviction is now tempered with anger over mistakes in the inquiry.
Why did it take so long for him to stand trial? The pain of Emma’s family lasted far too long.
Packer is now behind bars but questions remain.
Today, The Sunday Post tells the full inside story of Emma Caldwell’s murder.
