It’s a long way to the top of the Eiffel Tower, but for the next five days there’s a very easy way to get back down.
A zipline has been installed on the balcony of the Paris icon to celebrate the tower’s 130th anniversary and the upcoming French Open.
The first members of the public gave it a try today, with the line starting on the monument’s second level at 115 metres up.

Once the brave volunteers take the nerve-wracking step off the side, they speed down the 800 metre line that ends at the Ecole Militaire complex.
Thrillseekers taking the quick route down will reach speeds of around 55mph on the way, with the journey taking around 60 seconds to complete.

Only a select few will have the chance to ride the zip-line, set up by water company Perrier.
Tickets are being allocated via an online lottery on social media.
