THE UK electorate is bracing for another few weeks of political turmoil after Prime Minister Theresa May rather surprisingly announced a snap general election on June 8.
For the last two-and-a-half years, British leaders have taken us on a roller-coaster journey through the country’s uncertain political landscape.
It all started with the independence referendum in 2014 which saw Alex Salmond step down and make way for Nicola Sturgeon to become Scotland’s First Minister.
Then followed the General Elections of 2015, which paved the way for a Conservative government with David Cameron at the helm, only for him to resign from his post a year later in the aftermath of Brexit.
After fending off competition from hopefuls Michael Gove and Andrea Leadsom, May assumed office on July 13 last year, only for her to announce a snap election just weeks after triggering Article 50 this year to start Brexit negotiations.
