THE people of Aberdeen have been sampling an unusual Burns Night treat… Haggis-flavoured ice cream.
Mackie’s of Scotland have created a one-off marmalade and haggis pud – which uses one whole haggis per tub.
Marketing director Karin Haywood told the Evening Express: “It’s Burns Night, so we wanted to just celebrate true Scottish style.
“For Burns Night, of course, we have real haggis mixed with ice cream and a touch of marmalade sauce. We’re not suggesting haggis and marmalade should be a permanent pairing, but it gives it a bit of sweetness which we found people liked.”
The quirky invention can be found at the newly-opened parlour in Marischal Square, Aberdeen.
