SOGGY Scots will dry out with five days’ sunshine from Tuesday as the 23C hottest day of the year is forecast – but washouts and gales will return to spoil next weekend’s Bank Holiday.
More showers are due tomorrow after yesterday’s 14C soaking.
But the showers will clear as the Met Office predict good sunshine for many from Tuesday until Saturday.
Forecasters said eastern Scotland would be hottest to start with at 21C, before western Scotland gets even hotter, with 23C possible there by Thursday.
“Summery” conditions were forecast by The Weather Outlook.
Scotland is set to beat its 22.4C hottest day of the year, set on Tuesday at Lossiemouth, Moray.
But the Met Office warned of spells of rain returning by later in the Bank Holiday weekend as temperatures tumble.
Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: “Monday will have some rain, but Tuesday will be mainly dry.
“High pressure will lead to mainly dry and bright weather on Wednesday, and it is set to stay mainly dry and settled, with warm sunshine at times.
“Eastern Scotland could see 21C, and, by Thursday, 23C is possible in western Scotland.”
