Well it seems that some numbers are in fact luckier than others when it comes to choosing your lottery picks.
New analysis of draws around the world over the past 12 months has revealed the most common digits and those deemed the unluckiest.
The number 16 tops the list from the study, conducted by online lottery platform Jackpot.com, of nearly 1,500 draws across 15 international lotteries over the past year. The most drawn numbers are:
When it comes to EuroMillions, a firm favourite of Brits looking to make their fortune, these are the numbers to avoid:
1st – 18, drawn only four times
2nd – 46, drawn only five times
3rd – 40, drawn only six times
4th – 41, drawn only seven times
5th – 32, drawn only eight times
6th – 36, drawn only eight times
Whilst most global lotteries draw numbers between one and 50, Germany has one of the only lotteries that people can choose zero as a bonus number, with this number making one lucky person a €23.5M jackpot winner in March this year.
Another unusual lottery sees Italy’s SuperEnalotto offering punters a choice of 90 numbers – increasing the odds of winning the jackpot to 1 in 622,614,630.
