A woman has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a man on his own doorstep.
Police said the 76-year-old man was at home in Elliston Avenue, Priesthill, Glasgow, when he was disturbed by a woman who then allegedly seriously assaulted him with a weapon at his front door.
The incident happened at 10.30pm on Tuesday and the man was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
A 34-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and police said inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Peter Sharp said: “This was an incredibly serious attack on an elderly man and we are treating this as attempted murder.
“During the incident there was a lot of shouting and therefore we are appealing for anyone who may have heard this disturbance to get in touch with us.”
