A WOMAN who was found dead in a flat in Port Glasgow has been identified by police.
The body of Karen Young, 47, was discovered at a property in Kelburn Terrace in the Inverclyde town at 1.15pm on June 9.
A post-mortem examination was carried out and Police Scotland say her death is currently being treated as “unexplained”.
Ms Young was last seen by her son at her home address in Kilmacolm, Inverclyde, at 3.15pm on June 8.
Investigations are now under way to determine who Ms Young talked to in the hours leading to her death.
Detective Inspector Grant Macleod, of Police Scotland’s major investigation team, said: “Extensive enquiries are under way to establish Karen’s movements between when she was last seen by her son and when she was found dead on Friday afternoon.
“Officers have also managed to establish that a woman, quite possibly Karen, was seen entering the flat in Kelburn Terrace around 8.30am on Friday morning.
“It is absolutely imperative that we account for Karen’s movements leading up to her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained, and members of the local community could prove vital in providing answers for her family.
“If you saw Karen at any point between 3.15pm on Thursday and 1.15pm on Friday, please get in touch to help us paint a picture of where she had been and who she had spoken to.”
