A world-record breaking priced bottle of whisky has sold in Edinburgh for £848,000.
The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 60-year-old bottle went under the hammer at Bonhams Whisky Sale.
It was previously estimated that the bottle could sell for around £1 million by whisky broker, David Robertson who is one of the lucky few to have tasted the whisky.
He described its flavour to the Sunday Post as “hugely oaky with an incredibly fruity flavour.”
Another bottle of The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 was sold at Bonhams in Hong Kong in May this year for the previous world-record breaking price of £814,081.
Experts have labelled the expensive tipple as the holy grail of whiskies, thanks to the combination of its rarity vintage and unique artwork.
Although 12 bottles of The Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 were produced, it is not known how many of them still exist.
