Scots as young as five could be vaccinated against Covid-19 next year as the government awaits advice from the UK’s immunisation watchdog.
Currently only children aged 12 and above can be vaccinated against the virus with a single jab.
But the Scottish Government has confirmed that will be reviewed if the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) updates its guidance.
Reports suggest UK health bosses are already drawing up contingency plans to widen the roll out to all primary school-aged children from next spring.
The Scottish Government said yesterday: “We continue to roll out the vaccination programme in Scotland guided by advice from the JCVI. Should there be any update to advice about vaccinating 5-11-year-olds, we shall review accordingly.”
