Andy Murray and Kim Sears are engaged

Tennis star proposed last week to his girlfriend of eight years.

Andy Murray was today revealed to have asked his long-term girlfriend Kim Sears to marry him. The proposal, according to the Mirror website, took place last Wednesday. Happily for the sporting superstar, Kim said yes.

The couple have been dating for eight years, and Kim, a portrait artist, is regularly seen in attendance whenever her her now fiance, the British No. 1 is competing. Earlier this year, Murray had suggested that he and Sears would marry after Wimbledon, where Murray was defending the title he so famously won in 2013, but Sears dismissed those rumours via Twitter, saying “Nobody is getting married. His tweets need a sarcasm disclaimer.”
