Dougie will get it right at Games.
Dougie Vipond insists he won’t be taking the BBC’s Commonwealth Games presenting team on boozy nights out.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan are among the big names heading north to host the Beeb’s wall-to-wall coverage.
Dougie, part of the team with Hazel Irvine, knows his local knowledge will be in big demand but clubbing won’t be in his plans.
“Most of the places I’d have taken them from my university days aren’t open any more,” former Deacon Blue star Dougie told The Sunday Post.
“A lot of the presenters are coming up to Glasgow to spend a decent amount of time for the first time.
“Glasgow’s a fantastic place to experience. I’ll be making sure all the presentation team have a good time but still watch the events.”
Dougie, who’ll be fronting BBC Three’s coverage over the 11 days, is turning his Culross home in west Fife into a Games shrine, awash with all kinds of background information. And sons Fin, 16, Angus, 13 and Hamish, 10, will be giving their full backing.
Meanwhile fellow presenter Gabby, right, says covering the football World Cup first has meant loads of extra childcare for ex-Scotland rugby legend husband Kenny.
“I had to get the diaries out this week and show Kenny just how busy I am you could see his head going red,” said Gabby.
“He was saying that when he went to the Lions tour last year he didn’t recall us having to do all this. But I told him that’s because I do everything, all the time.”
Although the family won’t be able to go out to Brazil, they will be joining Gabby in Glasgow and twins Reuben and Lois will turn nine during their stay.
She revealed that she’d had to put blocks on her Twitter account to stop them seeing abuse.
“I’ve weeded out most of the really offensive ones by blocking them,” added Gabby, who said this week she had “acted in good faith” after being caught up in the tax avoidance scheme involving Gary Barlow.
The Glasgow Commonwealth Games is live on BBC TV, Radio and Online from July 23.
