SCOTLAND is set to get another variation of its ‘other national drink’.
AG Barr have announced that they’ll be launching Irn-Bru XTRA, the first permanent new product based on the famous secret recipe for 35 years, this August.
Makers say it will provide a new refreshing taste with no sugar.

Previous limited edition variants included the spice infused Fiery Irn-Bru, sports drink Irn-Bru XS and the Irn-Bru 32 energy drink.
Adrian Troy, AG Barr Head of Marketing, said: “It’s clear that the market is changing and consumers want more choice. We’ve listened to this and have worked incredibly hard to not only develop Irn-Bru Xtra, but to make it available to buy this summer.”
“With the Irn Bru secret recipe at its core, it delivers extra taste and no sugar. We’re confident it will be just the tonic for those that are keen to try something new and enjoy the bold Irn-Bru taste they love, without any sugar.”
AG Barr has been shifting towards low sugar products after the announcement of new tax measures in March’s Budget.
The sugar levy is set to be introduced in April 2018, when the company expects at least two-thirds of its drinks to be classed as lower or no sugar.
Currently, one in three cans sold is of the sugar free variation.
