Our writer Chae Strathie’s book Jumblebum lands The Bookbug Readers award.
We like to think The Sunday Post staff are a talented bunch and one Sunday Post writer has just won an award that shows he’s one of the best in Scotland.
Chae Strathie is a man of many talents. Because as well as a day job working for the Scottish Newspaper of the Year, he’s a successful children’s author. And, voting in the Children’s Book Awards 2013, thousands of children voted his book Jumblebum as their favourite book of last year.
Chae faced stiff competition in the three to seven year olds category, with the other nominees being Julia Donaldson and Debi Gliori. It made his award even more special.
“To be in the same category as Julia and Debi was really exciting but to actually win it is just amazing. I couldn’t believe it when my name was announced. A big thanks to all the kids who voted for me!” he said.
Fife-based Chae received his award at a fun-packed ceremony at Glasgow’s Mitchell Library on March 5, on the eve of World Book Day.
The two other winners were Claire McFall and Janis Mackay. Each author wins £3,000.
Well done our Chae!
