Fire crews battle fish factory blaze.
Emergency services were called to Fresh Catch in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, just before 3pm to battle a huge blaze at the fish factory.
The processing plant was cordoned off as up to 10 crews tackled the fire and attempted to access ammonia canisters.
Homes in nearby Errol Street were evacuated as a precaution, Police Scotland said.
Fresh Catch is owned by North Bay Pelagic in Peterhead, one of Europe’s busiest fish landing ports.
Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Food and Environment, tweeted: “Sorry to hear about major fire in Peterhead.”
Eyewitness, Neil Willox, 23, a wedding photographer from Peterhead, said: “Residents were being evacuated because the fire brigade were concerned about chemicals going up.”
