The family of a teenager whose death is being treated as murder have urged the public not to contribute to an online fundraiser.
Kelsey Womersley, 19, died in an incident in Birstall, West Yorkshire, in the early hours of Friday.
A GoFundMe page titled Kelsey’s Send Off was set up by friends, but her family has said they were not consulted and did not support it.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “They do not require any fundraising in relation to Kelsey’s death and are advising members of the public who might make donations that this is not something they need.”
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old girl who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released pending further enquiries.
Police were called to a flat off Raikes Lane just after 12am on Friday after paramedics attended the scene following reports of an assault.
