THE House of Lords is the latest arm of Parliament to crack down on nuisance phone calls.
Following a Sunday Post campaign, Lord Selsdon introduced a Private Members Bill last week to try and curb the number of unwanted phone calls and texts people receive.
The Bill aims to reverse the current arrangements which require people to opt out of receiving marketing calls.
Lord Selsdon explained: “This will enable the Government to provide immediate protection of privacy and comfort to so many householders being pestered by undesirable, unknown aliens let’s get rid of the nuisance calls once and for all!”
More than 20,000 people signed a petition demanding changes to the current failing system.
Last week, new research revealed that more than 3.2 million people are afraid to answer the phone because of nuisance calls.
