It’s thought that there was one British passenger on board with 11 from Norway and one from Italy.
Rescue officials say 11 bodies have been recovered from the scene of the crash with searches ongoing.
A spokesman for Foreign and Commonwealth Office said:“We are urgently seeking further information from local authorities following reports of a helicopter crash in Bergen, Norway.”
A police spokesman told Associated Press that there were “reports of an explosion and thick smoke” as the helicopter went down.
The helicopter is thought to have been on its way to an offshore oil field northwest of Bergen.
