There I was, face-to-face with one of the most gorgeous actresses in the world.
And all I could think of was: “Why do you remind me of Chic Murray so much?”
I was chatting to Kate Beckinsale, star of the psychological thriller The Face Of An Angel, and it was that was going through my mind.
She’s very funny, is our Kate. It’s hard to explain, but she had that deadpan, Chic Murray-style of understated delivery to her gags. I was giggling away at a story she told about her co-star, Daniel Bruhl.
Brainy Oxford graduate Kate talked to Daniel in his native German to pass the time on set.
“You know, everyone’s got those fine blonde hairs on their face,” she explained. “So we were sitting in a car between takes and he said I had a nice beard. I wasn’t sure what he’d said for a while, I was trying to remember if that was the German word for beard he’d used.
“It was though. I think he was making fun of me. I’m not sure now though. Should I start maintaining it?”
As if chatting to Kate wasn’t enough, I also got to speak to one of the most beautiful women in the world. Look, lads, someone has to do it.
I often get asked who the next big star in Hollywood is going to be.
Sometimes you can see with an actor that they have all the right attributes to make it to the A-list so take note of Cara Delevingne now.
The 22-year-old model has her first major film role in The Face Of An Angel.
Don’t tell Kate, but for me she steals the show.
Like nearly everyone else, I watched last week’s acquittal of Amanda Knox with absolute fascination. There’ have been a lot of opinions flying about with regards to the murder of the British student, Meredith Kercher.
This movie is loosely based on the story and while not a factual drama re-telling the murder story, it is dedicated to Meredith.
“When I read the script I saw that part of it, but the movie isn’t really about the story,” Kate added. “People kept saying, ‘Oh, you’re doing the Amanda Knox film’.
“I was thinking, ‘No, that’s only one small layer of it!’ It’s a lot to do with what happens after that and the media reaction to it.”
“It wasn’t really about the case, it’s about the relationship of journalists to the case.
“People thought it was a TV movie about Amanda Knox, but it’s more than that.”
