Eddie Redmayne loved getting stopped at customs with his Golden Globe!

“Super Sunday madness keeps on coming and it won’t stop until after The Oscars”

The Sunday madness just keeps on coming!

It’s supposed to be the day of rest but every Sunday for the past few weeks has been absolutely mad, and it’s going to be that way until The Oscars on February 22.

It’s one award show after another. I’m running out of tuxedoes.

Eddie Redmayne is thinking of taking an injunction at this rate.

On Sunday there I thought I was getting a break from the excitement until I made a SuperBowl appearance.

I wasn’t playing, although anyone who’s seen me play centre-forward knows how good I am at blootering the ball well over the bar.

I’d recorded a voice-over for a commercial a while back for car company Nissan.

It’s just a wee bit where I’m speaking the part of a racing car commentator but I nearly choked on my half-time pie when I heard it.

There was a hefty contract telling me not to reveal it to anyone, but I had no idea it was for a SuperBowl advert.

Remember, this is a show with an audience of around 114 million people you’d think they’d have let me know so I could set the video.

Speaking of huge audiences, it’s the Grammy Awards tonight out here in Los Angeles and we could well have another big Brit winner.

Sam Smith is up for the same number of awards as global superstars Beyonce and Pharell.

They’ve fairly taken a shine to Sam here and I reckon he’ll pick up a few trophies.

Last week saw Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty awarded co-writing credits on the smash hit single Stay With Me due to its similarities with Petty’s I Won’t Back Down hit single.

I don’t think that’ll hurt Sam’s chances of winning a few awards, or that there will be any bad feeling towards him.

In fact, given Petty and Lynne will be in line for a cut of the profits from Stay With Me in the future, then they’ll probably be cheering him on.

As well as the Grammys we’ve got The Baftas over in London and no doubt Eddie Redmayne will be there.

I chatted to Eddie last week and he was telling me about the first time he went through customs after winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor.

“I had the most wonderful experience of taking the award in my hand luggage through the x-ray machine,” he told me.

The bag went through the scanner and the woman stopped the camera and zoomed in on this weird shape.

“She said to her colleague, ‘I think it’s an award or something?’

“I was praying they would make me open it up and they did!”
