It was a real honour to welcome a bunch of weary but cheery lads to Tannadice on Friday who were on a mission to raise as much cash as possible for a wonderful cause.
They were travelling to 42 football grounds in 42 hours in memory of a very special man.
John Maurice Aitken bravely battled lymphoma three times but died of the cancer last year aged just 32.
As John was such a massive football fan, a group of his pals and family decided to honour his memory and raise money for the JMA trust with their football stadium challenge.
Even when he was ill, John raised funds to help others with the disease and his work is being carried on by his brothers Kevin and Ciaran as well as friends Gary McMenamin, Gordon Moffat and Joe Cranston.
By the time they got to Dundee United’s ground they hadn’t slept for well over 24 hours, but they were in good spirits thanks to the fantastic help and support they received from clubs in Scotland.
Luckily they didn’t have very far to travel to the next ground which was just across the street at Dens Park, home to Dundee FC.
I really am so proud of what they are doing. If you want to help, then visit mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/42in42
