I was getting a bit nervous waiting in the hallway.
You never quite get used to interviewing some folk like Jennifer Aniston.
Even though I’ve spoken to her a few times before, it’s still a wee bit daunting.
Especially as I was her last interview of the day.
I heard Jen inside the interview room being told it was Ross King.
“Oh great, I know Ross,” she said, actually sounding upbeat.
“Send him in!”
And relax! Hearing that was certainly encouraging.
It beats: “Aw naw, no that dumpling again!” anyway.
Every time I see Jennifer she seems to get more stunning and I’m not just saying that because she was nice about me!
But with new movie Cake, 46-year-old Jennifer isn’t relying on her looks she’s now showing off her acting chops.
She’s been getting a lot of plaudits for having put on a bit of weight and not wearing any make-up during her performance as a grief-stricken woman suffering chronic pain.
Jennifer has always been more than just a clothes horse, though.
Even during her iconic role in Friends she was off doing brilliant indie dramas like The Good Girl in 2002.
So doing some “proper acting” and not wearing make-up is no stretch for her.
“Things like me not wearing make-up it’s been getting a lot of attention,” she told me.
“Maybe I’m not the go-to girl for these more serious roles. But I want to make sure I’m doing these things for myself and proving it to myself.
“I don’t want to seem ungrateful I love doing the jobs I’ve got to do.
“As I’m getting older though I’m having more fun by doing more exciting and creative roles.”
I wondered if Jennifer found acting as if she had chronic pain caused her any real pain.
“Yes! When you sit and move in a certain way, your body is not functioning right and you start to get little cricks and pains.
“At the weekends I was having to do some physical therapy to make sure I didn’t get permanently stuck. I was grateful to have my body.”
I told Jen not to worry we’re all grateful for her body!
“Whatever I can do to help,” she laughed.
Unfortunately Jennifer isn’t nominated for tonight’s Oscars in the Best Actress category she wuz robbed, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t doubt she’ll get a nomination soon, though.
As for me, I’ll be at the Oscars tonight, clad in a rather spiffing new Ted Baker tuxedo.
I’ll keep you up to date with Ross’s Red Carpet Report next week!
