EAST KILBRIDE FC are celebrating tonight after winning an incredible TWENTY-SEVENTH game in a row.
Their 3-1 victory over BSC Glasgow breaks Dutch side Ajax’s world record – of a measly twenty-six!
To mark the occasion, the Amsterdam outfit even sent representatives to the K-Park ground and presented the record breakers with a crate of beers each and a special video message from Edwin Van Der Sar.
The Guinness World Records list the Ajax side that comprised of players such as Johan Cruyff, Johann Neeskens and Piet Keizer as winning 19 Eredivisie matches, 4 European Cup matches and 3 Dutch Cup matches between 1971 and 1972.
The record was close to being beaten by Brazilian side Coritiba, who won 24 straight games in 2011, and Real Madrid’s 22 win run in 2014-15.
Manager Martin Lauchlan told the East Kilbride News: “To surpass the legend Johan Cruyff’s record with Ajax is surreal.
“The players should savour and enjoy every minute of this because they deserve unbelievable credit for this run.”
