An elderly couple have backpacked thousands of miles throughout remote parts of the world promoting their favourite club Hibernian.
Fred and Rita Daniels have spread the name of Hibs to every corner of the globe during 30 years of travel that have seen them visit more than 80 countries.
The couple, from Edinburgh, always take Hibs badges and pennants with them when embarking on their ambitious holidays and hand them out to locals along the way.
Their travels have seen them promote the club in remote regions of China, an isolated Buddhist monastery in Laos, the Australian outback and even Timbuktu.
Fred, 71, and Rita, 70, have been married for 49 years and say the success of their relationship is based on their love for each other and the Hibees.
Fred a member of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society also gives talks about his travels to raise money for charity.
He said: “Rita and I have always been very interested in the fantastic planet we live in. I once gave out Hibs stuff in a village in Iran called Tashabad where there were just six mud huts.
“I gave a wee boy a Hibs badge in a remote region of China. He didn’t speak English, but I was able to mimic kicking a football.”
The fearless couple have also survived life-threatening incidents during their jaunts, including severe dehydration, travelling over some of the highest passes in the world and areas blighted by armed conflict.
