Paul Gallacher admits he could barely watch the TV highlights of Dundee United ripping Dundee apart, knowing they were next up at Partick Thistle.
The Jags No.1 said: “I didn’t watch it all I had seen more than enough!
“They played well and scored some decent goals. They have a lot of forward-thinking players, but we are aware of their threat and we know who to look out for.”
Gallacher is pinning his hopes on United having run out of gas at Firhill, and added: “We’d like to see that inconsistency creeps into their game,
“With us missing a game with the postponement of the Celtic match, we are chomping at the bit to get out onto the pitch again.
“We missed a massive game on TV against Celtic, which was hard to take. But it was probably the right decision, given the awful conditions.”
Gallacher insists the Keepers’ Union was alive and kicking after seeing the criticism Dundee goalie, Arvid Schenk, came in for.
He said: “It looked like the German boy didn’t have too much chance. There was not too much fault that I could see.
“But I picked up the papers and he has been absolutely hammered for it! That is the life of the keeper. We come under the microscope to scrutinise any kind of mistake.”
Thistle boss Alan Archibald has dismissed his huge casualty list and said: “We still have enough quality in the team to go out and get a result.
“We have Paul Brannigan back in training and we cross our fingers that he and Gary Fraser have a chance.
“We are down to the bare bones, but it is about shuffling things about for Sunday.
“The Celtic game being postponed was probably a blessing in disguise. It will be a tough game against United. They are usually close games between us, so hopefully that’s the case again.”
