BURNLEY’S Joey Barton is reportedly in talks with Rangers over a contract offer.
The 33-year-old midfielder, who would be available as a free agent this summer, was in Glasgow this afternoon to discuss a potential move.
He was named Burnley’s player of the year this season as the club won the Championship title, but is yet to agree a new deal with the Lancashire club.
Frank McParland, Rangers’ head of recruitment, may play a large part in sealing any potential deal.
He was working for Burnley when Barton signed from Queens Park Rangers.
The move may come as a surprise to many as Barton has previously shown his support for Celtic through his Twitter account.
To all Celtic and Rangers fans, there is a fake profile knocking about pretending to be me. I have nothing but respect for both clubs.

But Barton is no stranger to controversy having had a career that has, at times, been fairly colourful.
He has played for Manchester City, Newcastle United, QPR, Marseille and then Burnley and has one England cap.
Here’s how fans have reacted on social media:
Joey Barton is that guy you hate if you are playing against him but for you he will die on the pitch 100% desire and commitment with him
