EURO 2016 has grabbed most of the football headlines this week, but there was an eye-catching result in the second round of the Scottish Women’s Cup on Sunday.

Cup-holders Glasgow City cruised to an incredible 26-0 victory over East Kilbride.

Leanne Ross, City’s captain, scored nine in the match against the SWFL Division Two Central side.

There were other big scores as Jeanfield Swifts beat Ross County 18-0, Celtic triumphed 7-0 over Aberdeen and Hibs put eleven past Boroughmuir Thistle without reply.

City take on Hibs in Wednesday night’s SWPL Cup final at Ainslie Park, and the Scottish Women’s Premier League have announced that kids will be allowed in for free.

Vivienne MacLaren, Director of Media and Communications for SWF, said “We’re delighted to launch this ‘Kids Go Free’ campaign. Increasing attendances at matches and getting women involved in the sport is vital, and this campaign does both.

“We might even find a few adults who come along with their children becoming interested in the sport, supporting it and even playing in the future.”
