They beat Cleveland Indians in a thrilling extra-inning victory in the seventh game of the World Series.
They hadn’t won baseball’s biggest prize since 1908.

US President Barack Obama, himself a fan of the Cubs’ rivals Chicago White Sox, was quick to offer his congratulations.
He said: “I’ll say it: Holy Cow, Cubs fans. Even this White Sox fan was happy to see Wrigley rocking last night.”
It happened: @Cubs win World Series. That's change even this South Sider can believe in. Want to come to the White House before I leave?
