Gary Neville has probably made himself even more popular with the punters who watch football down the pub.
He quipped that today’s game between Manchester United and Liverpool would be like the Dog & Duck v The Red Lion.
You can say that he was being disrespectful to the clubs by comparing them to pub players, but it was the sort of comment that supporters lap up.
He perfectly summed up the situation surrounding two sides that are playing pretty poor football at the moment.
Gary’s problem is that he is also a coach with England. It will be interesting to hear what Roy Hodgson and the FA have to say if he comes out with any more colourful remarks about Premier League stars.
You wouldn’t rule out some of these young lads having the hump with Neville.
He may have to decide that he can’t be both a pundit and a member of the national team’s staff. When it comes to the game, I’m tipping United to win.
